Construction quality is measured in the field. Having good design, thorough specifications and strong trades are important factors, but it’s how well your team executes that is the greatest contributing factor to delivering a quality product. For more than a decade, our team of building performance experts have provided objective, third-party assessments of overall construction quality.
Different from individual home inspections, we spend time on site observing active construction at all stages in order to provide you with an overall performance “score” of your field team’s ability to consistently execute quality construction Best Practices®. We identify a list of priority quality improvement opportunities and recommend practices to further reduce your risk.
We examine the following 13 building systems applicable to construction practices common to where you are building:
• Safety
• Site
• Thermal Enclosure
• Drainage Plane & Flashing
• Foundations
• Framing
• Air Barrier
• HVAC Systems
• Plumbing & Electrical
• Roof Cladding & Drainage
• Wall Cladding
• Showers & Tubs
• Interior Finishes
Before we leave, we provide you with a “quick take” debrief of what we observed, along with a copy of all digital photos taken. Following our field visit, we issue a Construction Quality Assessment Report and Scorecard made available online through your own PERFORM® Align portal.
Through this repeated process, we look to influence systemic change – not simply identify non-conformance items. We have a well-documented and proven process that often fulfills insurance requirements for third-party oversight and we strongly encourage your team to participate – walking with us in the field provides a great learning opportunity.
Do you have your own internal QA team? Are you looking for a common platform to gather construction quality assessment data? You can license our set of assessment tools and we’ll train your team to use them in combination with or in lieu of our third-party assessment.
